IMMERSE brings classes to the Grand Rapids Public Museum for a full week so that students can use the Museum as their classroom, and take their love of learning to a new level. The Museum’s IMMERSE Program provides a completely immersive, week-long learning experience for schools from the West Michigan region. The program is intended to help students jump start their development as problem solvers, communicators, collaborators and innovators.
“A week at the museum offered students an authentic and engaging learning experience. Students were eager, active participants and had so much fun they almost forgot they were at school” – Kelly Wegenka, CA Frost (GRPS) 5th grade parent.
Thanks in part to a grant that we were awarded, all Ada Vista fourth graders will take part in the Immerse program this year! Check out the calendar for the your class dates.
As the time approaches, you will receive more information on schedules, and volunteer opportunities. We are so excited that we have a chance to study at the museum this year, and know it is going to be a week that the kids will remember!
One of the amazing experiences for kids at the museum is the Planetarium. If you want to further encourage your child's love of astronomy, be sure to take advantage of Public Nights at James C. Veen Observatory through the fall!
